Seattle by Warrior

Our last Resident Artist, Patrick Gallagher,  relocated to Seattle over a year ago. After we had loaded up the kayaks, we went to reconnect. Patrick works doing art restoration and charges the furnace for another famous Seattle glassblower, Martin Blank. He lives in a cute little downtown suburb.  We hung out in the back yard and swapped stories while the kids picked cherries from the neighbors tree.

Patrick told us that Seattle locals love Vietnamese Pho. We went downtown and truly enjoyed the steaming rice noodle soup. We made plans to go to the Pike Place Market. Seeing as there are no campgrounds in the downtown Seattle area, we decided to boondock as close as we could.
Navigating the steep little streets, we settled upon a pay parking lot a block and a half from the market. For $10, we paid for overnight parking, pulled the shades and were lulled to sleep by the varied sounds of the downtown bar scene. Sarah was restless with the commotion, but Lilye slept like a rock, enjoying the city sounds.  These were our scenic campsite views:

In the morning, we fed the parking machine and went downtown to explore the galleries and markets. It was great to see all the local artisans,

colorful displays of flowers,

produce,

baked goods,

and incredible street performers.

We checked out the street art and walked down Gum Alley.

After a lovely morning, we turned the Warrior east from the bustling streets of Seattle toward the majestic mountains of Yellowstone.
